Babbitt Capital

Operator. Investor.
Same person.

For the right founder, the check is real.
Real capital · An operator who's been in the seat · Someone who stays close

What comes with the check is the rest of me. Decades of operating, a builder who can sit with you on the hard calls, and someone who has signed the front of payroll. The capital is real. The partnership is the differentiator.

Most capital arrives, wires, and waits. Mine arrives with the operator attached — someone who has built the teams, run the deals, and signed the front of payroll. The money is the easy part. What you actually need is someone who has been in the seat.
What changes with an operator's check

Three things you don't get from passive capital.

Most angel capital arrives, wires, and waits. Mine arrives with the rest of me — available where it makes the difference.

ONE

The money is real

My capital, my decision. Not a fund. Not a syndicate. My check, my call — faster yeses and faster nos than founders are used to.

Wide open by design
No published check size, no fixed stage, no narrow sector. Each opportunity sized to itself, not to a brochure.
TWO

The operator comes with it

Pattern matching. I've been in your seat — across multiple businesses, decades. The hard call you're facing this week, I've probably faced before.

Hands, not just advice
When you need an extra pair of hands on the build, the person who wrote the check can sit down and do the work.
THREE

I stay close after

Not a passive observer. Not a once-a-quarter check-in. Real engagement on the things that actually move the business.

Honest counsel
The hard truths, said clearly, in private. The encouragement, said often, when it's earned.
How the partnership actually works →
Where it starts

Three ways this begins.

Founders arrive at different points. The capital works the same way; the seat looks different.

START IT

From zero

You have the idea and the will, and nothing built yet. We start it together — I come in at the beginning, put capital and hands behind it, and take a position alongside you.

BACK IT

Already moving

Customers, a team, momentum, and a wall you can see coming. Capital, plus the operator, plus someone who stays close after the wire.

STRUCTURE IT

Built, and thinking ahead

You've built something real and the question isn't growth any more. It's how the thing is held, protected, and eventually handed on. That's a different conversation, and it's one I'm built for.

What the house has started

I don't just back founders. I've been one — repeatedly.

Babbitt Capital is the house. These are ventures started inside it, each one running under its own name.

Why this is here
Every one of these started the same way the conversation with you would start — an idea, a bet, and someone willing to put their name on the door before there was any evidence it would work.
The implicit standard

Real capital. Real standards.

Wide open by design doesn't mean indiscriminate. There's a bar — I just don't publish it.

The serious founder emails to find out where they land. The casual one self-disqualifies on price-discovery sites that aren't this one.

A quiet discipline
I can write a check. Not I will write a check. The distinction matters. Every founder gets the same treatment — a real conversation, an honest read, and a clear answer. Some result in capital. Most don't. That ratio is the entire point — if everyone got funded, the partnership would mean nothing.
Who's behind the check

The operator behind the check.

Decades inside the biggest names in enterprise — Digital Equipment, Oracle, Emerson, Prudential, then Executive Partner at New York Life. Built the teams. Ran the deals. Designed the programs. Then put my own name on the door and learned what that actually costs.

Fiduciary by license and by habit. I think about a business the way an owner has to — how it's capitalized, how it's protected, how it eventually changes hands.

I'm a problem solver, an encourager, and a giver. That's not three things I do. It's how I show up.

Notes From The Practice

Writing. Short. Specific.

A few notes from the work. Not a blog. When I have something worth saying, I write it down here.

Tell me what you're building.

Not a form. A conversation. If you've got something in motion, I'd rather hear it from you than read it in a deck. Pick a 30-minute slot below, or email me directly.
